Propulsion Service Engineer Responsibilities
- Conduct overhauls of propulsion equipment both onboard vessels and in workshops, ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer and industry specifications.
- Diagnose faults and failures in propulsion systems and recommend corrective actions, including part replacements, repairs, or upgrades.
- Lead and coordinate propulsion service jobs, collaborating with customers, ship crew, and internal teams to ensure efficient and timely service delivery.
- Carry out dynamic balancing, shaft alignment, and vibration analysis to optimize propulsion system performance.
- Install, commission, and test new propulsion systems, ensuring that they meet operational requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Work with various Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) systems and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work logs, inspection reports, and technical documentation for each job.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies during all service activities.
- Provide technical training and support to customers and crew on the proper operation and maintenance of propulsion systems.
- Bachelor’s degree (or comparable by experience) in mechanical engineering
- You have a good command of the English language, both orally and in writing, Spanish would be a plus
- Experience in shipping is an advantage
- Experience installing, repairing, and overhauling Azmiuth Thruster, Bow Thruster, Stern Thruster, CPP, FPT, and sealing
