Reporting to the Vice President of Containers, the Senior Manager of Container Vessel Operations - Lead is responsible for managing the port's container vessel optimization and operational execution strategy. This role serves as an integrator, working closely with container yard (CY) personnel to meet customer needs. The candidate will oversee container vessel operations as the process owner and lead a team of Vessel Planners and Marine Superintendents.
Senior Manager, Container Vessel Operations Responsibilities
- Oversee vessel operations to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
- Serve as the primary liaison with container ocean carriers to coordinate vessel start times, labor ordering, and provide critical updates during operations.
- Prepare internal equipment and labor orders to support vessel operations.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Gang Foremen and Crane Operators, ensuring that safety and productivity metrics are consistently met.
- Oversee the equipment compound process to ensure that vessel operations begin on time and maintain productivity throughout the shift.
- Ensure vessel reports are completed accurately and on time; prepare and maintain weekly and monthly productivity reports, including Net & Gross, Operator, and Gang Productivity metrics.
- Optimize discharge and loading sequences to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with the container yard team to optimize grounding and loading locations for containers.
- Utilize Terminal Operating System (TOS) efficiently to support vessel operations.
- Work closely with the Crane Engineering team to resolve any technical issues promptly.
- Ensure the team monitors export container stacks effectively.
- Ensure that standby and extra labor are accurately recorded.

- Obtain a TWIC Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security
