What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Core Molding Technologies?
Purpose of Job
Directly responsible for the management and execution of all Engineering activities related to automation solutions for production and/or facility equipment. Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization for assigned equipment, directing and coordinating activities to improve reliability, and applying advanced engineering principles to the design, installation and fine tuning of new equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop new automation concepts/specifications or make improvements to existing products with input from a number of sources (i.e., manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, marketing, etc.).
- Evaluate products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
- Set, implement and maintain schedules to ensure project completion.
- Review initial run of the automation for design compliance and make appropriate changes to ensure product compliance.
- Follow the product and make requested automation changes and corrections throughout the life of the product.
- Provide technical support by providing information and answers to other engineers, departments and customers
Required Skills and Experience:
- Associates degree in electrical, electro-mechanical or industrial engineering or related field.
- 3 years of recent industrial controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Design experience at a component level and complete machine/systems design.
- At least 2 years of PLC (Allen Bradley) Experience,
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process orientation.
- Proficiency with designing, installing, and trouble-shooting prox sensors, limit switches, and thermocouples
Desired Skills:
- Robotic programming experience (Fanuc or Yaskawa)
- Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Accomplished at Project Management and tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self-starter, independent but able to function in a team environment
- GD&T knowledge and understanding
- TS16949 or ISO9001 quality systems experience preferred.
