Summary/Objective
The Product Engineer is responsible for leading the product launch and life cycle support for the integration of materials, methods, equipment, tools, and process development necessary to bring new production as well as the long-term management and continuous improvement of assigned products. Support production with manufacturing processes, work instructions, process and equipment troubleshooting, and production efficiencies.

This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and does require daily shop-floor presence and interaction with other departments and employees.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position may occasionally require extended hours and/or weekend work.

Travel is limited and primary local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected from time to time that is by the customer or Engineering Manager

- Liaison between customer and Core Molding Technologies for product launches and established assigned molding programs
- Documentation of all program issues
- Lead and coordinate activities as part of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for product launches.
- Applies or reviews engineering analysis to ensure part design, tool design, materials selection and manufacturing process will yield acceptable product fit, form, and function to customer requirements
- Develop and maintain accuracy of Bills of Materials and product routers
- Develop and submit Quote Workbooks and work with tool shops and equipment providers for tooling and secondary quotes/estimates.
- Lead and coordinate product or process changes through validation and implementation into production
- Work closely with tool shops and secondary equipment suppliers for initial builds and ongoing engineering changes and process improvements.
- Develop and manage work instructions
- Continuous Improvement of existing molding programs to increase profitability, reduce scrap, reduce waste, and downtime reduction.
- Work with internal and external resources to resolve product or production issues.
- Lead or assist in corrective or preventative action root cause analysis, implementation and verification.
- All other duties as directed by supervisor.

Required Education, Skills, And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years of experience in reinforced fiberglass industry (open and closed molding practices), and compression molding
- 1 year of experience with FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP and APQP
- Track record of leading and implementing continuous improvement, scrap reduction, and cost-out initiatives in a manufacturing facility
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Professional communication skills and ability to effectively work and build strong working relationships with customers after work or during weekend needs
- Well organized and strong planning abilities with strong organizational, administrative skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Team player; maintain positive, supportive, and appreciative attitude
- Good time-management skills
- 5 years experience in an engineering manufacturing role
- 4 year’s experience in automotive supplier environment QS/ISO systems
- Controls and low voltage electrical knowledge
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience
- Automotive / manufacturing experience
