Summary/Objective

This role helps create and execute our vision and strategy in the execution of Continuous Improvement that is consistent with the Core Lean Enterprise model. The objective of the CI Leader is to coach and influence the Site leadership team and employees to implement and sustain change within the site.

Essential Functions

  • CI Leader works to involve everyone in the pursuit of sustained beneficial change and implements train-the-trainer approach. Focused and rapid, sustained implementation through learn-by-doing methods. Co-creates, sustains, revises and measures progress on the Site continuous improvement and tracking plans.
  • CI Leader will own the OPEX Audit MWB.
  • Facilitates improvement implementation through:
    • Employee Teams
    • CI Events (Kaizen/Blitz)
    • Team Improvement Projects
    • Training Workshops
  • The CI Leader will use coaching, facilitation, training and consultation on Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Material Flow, Visual Management, Material Pull Systems, Kanban, 5S, and other lean tools to produce continuous improvement.
  • Will have a high degree of factory, office, and team interactions.
  • Will build teams and act as a role model in coaching.
  • Will champion change and promote essential facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Will work with leadership and employee teams to resolve implementation issues, managing communication processes as well as ensuring consistency in implemented processes and programs.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement interventions and employee involvement teams throughout the site and associated sites when requested.
  • Assures that predicted improvements are implemented, measured, driven to closure, and providing operational results.
  • Assures that predicted savings are tracked and validated.
  • Requires a high degree of Continuous Improvement knowledge and is required to stay abreast of the latest external developments in Continuous Improvement best practices.
  • Required to follow all HSE rules and regulations. Must always wear appropriate PPE as required.

This job operates in a professional manufacturing office and shop floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position regularly requires extended hours and/or weekend work.

Travel

Frequent overnight travel will be required to other facilities to review processes and/or facilitate training.

Required Education, Skills, And Experience

  • 4-year Technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with exposure to Lean Production Tools, such as Toyota Production System.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment – to effectively listen, facilitate, challenge, communicate and motivate multifunctional teams and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in the Site base language and English.
  • Must be a proven leader within a relevant discipline and a quick learner who is adaptive to and embraces change.
  • Drives for operational excellence and business results and interacts effectively at all levels of the organization to “get things done.”
  • Envisions the future, customer focused, and takes measured risks.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Energetic, disciplined, focused & have the ability to see beyond temporary setbacks.
  • Fosters open communication, values learning and is able to build employee effectiveness.
  • Promotes essential facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Builds teams and acts as a role model in coaching, championing change
  • Essential computer literacy: Corporate desktop environment such as Microsoft Office suite.
  • Green Belt certified- Preferred Black Belt.
