Overview

At Core Molding Technologies, we take pride in offering our interns valuable, hands-on experience. Interns work on project-based tasks that align with the current needs of their department. These projects may range from developing new tests and designing systems to traveling to suppliers or managing projects. In addition to performing full-time associate-level work, interns have direct access to the Core Leadership team and participate in monthly organizational and corporate events. These events include Q&A sessions with senior associates, tours of our manufacturing plant, and employee or community service initiatives.

We are actively seeking interns for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work directly with the engineering teams at the Winona plant to gather, analyze, and present project data. Responsibilities span across all operations, including DFLT production, molding, and secondary processes. The intern will collaborate with the engineering team and department leaders to contribute to improvements and add value to ongoing projects.

Essential Functions

  • Read and follow operating instructions for various tasks, including inspections and production activities.
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments, which may include exposure to strong odors, extreme temperatures, and dust.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This position operates both on the shop floor and in a professional manufacturing office, utilizing hand tools, machinery, measurement equipment, and standard office tools.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

This is an internship. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on class schedules.

Required Education, Skills, And Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Controls, or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematics, blueprint reading, CAD modeling, and mechanical skills such as welding, plumbing, and automotive repair is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and judgment skills.
  • Business acumen and ability to engage with all levels of the plant environment.
  • High energy, work ethic, and attention to detail.
