What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing and Collections Manager position at Core Specialty?
Manager will be responsible for providing day-to-day oversight and direction of billing specialists’ work effort as well as performing billing and processing of premium receipts, refunds, and commissions. Works with information services, brokers, agents, and internal/external customers to resolve issues.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
Provides oversight and direction of the daily work effort of Billing Specialists.
Keeps leadership aware of developing trends and issues within the department.
Is knowledgeable of and can perform tasks assigned to Billing Specialists:
- Matches incoming cash to receivable balances
- Posts premium payments to receivables systems.
- Performs premium and commission refunds.
- Interacts with customers/brokers/agents/other departments via e-mail/phone
- Reviews, conducts research, and resolves premium/commission differences with customers/brokers
- Identifies and promptly reports Billing or system issues to appropriate areas (I.S., Underwriting) and works - with others to resolve.
In addition to the above key responsibilities, may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
- Knowledge and proven ability in billing and/or collections
- Ability to observe and apply complicated rules, regulations, and laws to procedures performed, with knowledge of underwriting rules, regulations, and laws, preferred
- Effective customer service and organizational skills
- Exercises good judgment
- Basic Microsoft Office skills with intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Minimum 4 years’ billing experience required. Additional experience related to A/P, A/R, or bookkeeping preferred.
- Previous leadership experience desired.
