What are the responsibilities and job description for the Claims Examiner position at Core Specialty?
Multi-state commercial insurance company is seeking a qualified Claims Examiner for a position based out of the Mayfield Heights, OH claims office.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
- Investigate commercial insurance automobile, property damage and general liability claims.
- Handle claims from the initial loss report through final disposition.
- Conduct investigation of policy coverage and liability with a detailed analysis of applicable state laws; damage determination for property, commodity and personal injury claims.
- Establish a course of action to conclude claims timely and in compliance with state regulatory requirements.
- Analyze exposures and ensure proper reserves established.
- Escalate high exposure claims to management for direction.
- Manage litigation filed against commercial insureds.
- Task assignments to outside vendors as required along with oversight and management of the vendor.
- Communicate with policyholders, agents and underwriting on key claim issues as required.
- Conduct open claim reviews and work cohesively with other departments to deliver superior customer service and claim service to policyholders.
- Travel may be required to attend mediations, conferences, trials and training activities
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
- 3 - 5 years of experience handling commercial auto claims is required
- Active adjuster’s license in Texas or home state
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel is required
Experience:
- High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong analytical skills are required to effectively and efficiently analyze information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to express complex evaluations and resolve claims through a well-planned negotiation strategy
- Customer service skills and a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment are essential
