Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures for patients of all ages under the supervision of qualified physicians.
- Confirm imaging orders for completeness and accuracy, reviewing patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
- Contact the ordering physician if an inadequate reason for test is supplied.
Sonographers utilize advanced knowledge to perform diagnostic procedures in various settings, including portable and O.R. examinations. They assess and evaluate ultrasound images and related data, exercising independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams. A preliminary diagnosis of technical findings is provided to the physician.
