The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. The Staff RN-Inpatient job description has incorporated essential functions which are adapted from the ANA Nursing : Scope and Standards of Practice 2nd Edition (2010).

CCRN preferred Knowledge Need (additional from baseline) : Ventilator settings, intubations, gtts commonly seen in MICU- pressors, inotropes, sedatives, antihypertensives, analgesics, insulin etc. paracentesis, thoracentesis, chest tubes, drains, MICU typical pt population resp concerns, OF, bipap, COPD, asthma, airway watch, DKA, OD, suicide, EToH W / D, cancer population, ARDS, ESRD, missed HD, electrolyte abnormality, pancreatitis etc. ACLS Required : Yes. PALS Required : No. Other Special Requirements : ICU experience and level 1 trauma center experience
