Summary Of Position
The Architectural Designer III, supporting our Design Studio and as part of our Housing Team will be responsible for following design direction or developing concepts provided by others. However, we encourage you to take the opportunity to independently develop design solutions. You'll prepares drawings and renderings using BIM/CAD programs and/or hand sketches. Additionally, you will produce design presentations for client review at various stages of the project with direction of more senior staff.

Responsibilities
- Design
- Follows design direction or develops concepts provided by others but frequently has the opportunity to independently develop design solutions.
- Prepares drawings and renderings using BIM/CAD programs and/or hand sketches.
- Takes field measurements of existing conditions.
- Participates in construction phase services, including field observation, submittal review, and answering RFIs.
- Ability to produce design presentations for client review at various stages of the project with minimal supervision.
- Collaborates as a team member on projects of any size. May be the lead designer on small to medium size projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Project Management
- Assists with project management tasks.
- Compiles data and organizes files.
- May analyze and monitor hours expended in various phases of projects.
- Assists with the development of hours and fee proposals
- Problem Solving
- Participates in problem solving as part of the design team.
- Expands upon and develops concepts provided by others while maintaining design intent and the building program.
- Provides design solutions to specific conditions or general design issues.
- Proficient knowledge of construction materials and techniques and building systems that is applied to create constructible designs that meet construction cost budgets.
- Bachelor of Architecture or Landscape Architecture (professional degree) or Bachelor of Arts or Science with major related to the field (non-professional degree) or Associate Degree in Architectural Technology.
- For architectural designers, begin taking the ARE.
- Four or more years of professional experience.
- Excellent knowledge of REVIT, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Lumion, and similar programs.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to generate “mark-ups” to be completed by others.
- Proficient knowledge of building and life safety codes.
- Ability to assemble and produce a set of construction documents for small to medium size projects with general supervision only.
- Ability to assist in the generation book-format specifications.
You will work within our Housing Team, collaborate with our other designers and architects and report to the Director of Operations, Housing.
