HIRING RANGE
Compensation will reflect qualifications, with a competitive salary range of $78,598-$94,318 annually. Maximum Pay for this position is $110,038.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Safety and Training Supervisor oversees Core Transit’s safety programs and training initiatives to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You’ll lead operator training, conduct safety assessments, oversee compliance with FMCSA and FTA safety standards, and ensure all Core Transit employees receive ongoing professional development. This position requires a strong understanding of public transit operations, training curriculum development, and risk management principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Develop, assess, and revise policies related to employee and public safety.
– Oversee safety compliance, reporting, and enforcement of operational policies.
– Manage and deliver safety and training programs, including CDL and FMCSA ELDT compliance.
– Review video footage from the VIM Apollo system to investigate incidents and address performance concerns.
– Conduct safety audits, accident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
– Lead the Safety Review Committee, determine incident preventability, and ensure accountability.
– Facilitate safety meetings, ensuring compliance with FTA regulations and internal policies.
– Supervise Lead Trainer and driver trainers, managing all training operations.
Act as ESF1 Transportation Lead/Alternate for emergency response coordination.
– Ensure compliance with DOT Medical Card and CDL licensing requirements.
– Assist with operator recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
– Research and implement best practices for transit safety and training.
– Track and report safety-related data to leadership and external agencies.
– Manage the Safety and Training department budget.
– Ensure compliance with Drug and Alcohol Policies.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
– College/ technical school degree in Transportation, Industrial Safety, Environmental Safety, Safety Management or a closely related field and/or combination of five years of related work experience.
– Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes and P endorsement (or ability to obtain).
– FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Supervisor Certification required (or ability to obtain).
– Strong knowledge of FTA, FMCSA, and DOT safety regulations.
– Ability to develop, implement, and deliver training programs.
– Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED
Bilingual Spanish Speaking a plus!
LOCATION & COMMITMENTS
Primary office located in Gypsum, CO.
Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 7/8 AM to 4/5 PM.
Travel to other locations Avon, Vail, and Leadville as needed.
