Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Correctional Psychologist to join our mental health team at CoreCivic. This is an ongoing role with opportunities for growth and development.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological screenings and assessments of inmates, using available records and clinical interviews.
- Collaborate with other clinical staff, including psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated treatment and patient care.
- Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on inmate needs and level of functioning.
- Makes regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques, providing effective treatments and interventions for individuals in caseload.
- Provides mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address crisis situations.
- Consults with various staff members to gather information and understand the escalation of problems behaviors and changes in mental health conditions of inmates.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state where practice occurs.
- Two years of clinical experience, including one year in a comparable position.
- A valid driver's license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
