We are looking for an enthusiastic Building & Grounds Maintenance Apprentice to join our team and gain hands-on experience in facility maintenance. Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the apprentice will perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the warehouse, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lift truck maintenance, and sprinkler systems. This role provides hands-on training and mentorship to develop technical skills in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
• Perform repairs and adjustments on doors, dock levelers, freezer doors, sprinkler systems, and electrical systems in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance on roofing systems, office HVAC units, and break room equipment.
• Inspect and test equipment using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges.
• Maintain tools and machinery in good working condition and follow safety guidelines.
• Conduct inspections of safety equipment (exit signs, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems) to ensure compliance.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records.
• Assist with external facility maintenance, including snow removal, painting, and minor paving repairs.
• Respond to security alarm calls as needed.
• Keep the work area clean and perform general housekeeping duties.
• Follow attendance policies and arrive on time for assigned shifts.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience in maintenance, facility upkeep, or related field is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
