What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Security Specialist position at Corestaff Services?
This is a contract position that requires a professional who combines proven IT project execution with a passion for cybersecurity, systems administration skills, and the ability to manage and optimize Continuum's Networks and Computers, Microsoft 365 and Entra.
The ideal candidate is methodical, a voracious learner who can communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain a secure and efficient environment, and deliver IT projects on time and within budget. This ideal candidate should be able to multitask or switch context with ease in a high-stakes environment.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain Cyber/Info Security controls of frameworks or regulations (CMMC, NIST 800-171, ITAR) across Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises environments.
- Conduct regular compliance audits, monitor alerts, and address vulnerabilities proactively.
- Produce regular reports on compliance with relevant Cyber/Info Security frameworks, regulations, and company policies, network, cloud, and M365.
- Incident response, forensics, and reporting.
Systems Administration
- Oversee day-to-day administration and reporting of M365 (Office, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), Entra (Azure AD), and Intune (device enrollment, endpoint configuration management).
- Perform routine system health checks, manage patches, and troubleshoot performance issues.
Network & Troubleshooting
- Configure and maintain a secure and reliable network environment (Firewalls, Switches, WIFI, DNS, VPN, Subnets, and Internet Service Providers).
- Respond to escalated support tickets, diagnosing hardware/software issues, and performing basic computer troubleshooting.
IT Projects
- Work with the Head of IT to produce project plans, schedules, and resource requirements for IT initiatives.
- Report on and communicate project progress, risks, and dependencies to the Head of IT, maintaining clarity on deliverables and timelines.
- Execute the technical aspects of the projects.
- Document project specification, configurations, processes, outcomes, lessons learned, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Programming & Automation
- Leverage scripting and programming skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
- Utilize GitHub or similar version control platforms to manage code and collaborate with other team members.
- Explore new tools and technologies that enhance operational efficiency and security.
Key Requirements
- Prior experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in IT administration with a focus on Microsoft cloud platforms (M365, Azure) and cyber security.
- Experience with cybersecurity framework implementation – NIST 800-171, CMMC, ITAR is preferred.
