- Reports to: Clinical Director
- Salary: $95-135K/yr
SUMMARY:
- Plans and administers physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries or muscle, joint, or bone disease to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability by performing the following duties:

- Examines and evaluates patients to determine nature and extent of disorder and treatment plan
- Reviews physician referral and medical records, if applicable
- Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and records findings to develop or revise plan of care
- Plans and prepares a written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data
- Treats acute and chronic injuries and related disabilities
- Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function and prescribes routine and corrective exercises
- Uses a variety of exercise techniques including neuromuscular reduction, PNF, PRE, endurance, and balance
- Instructs, motivates and assists patients to perform various physical activities and use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches and canes
- Instructs individualized rehabilitation programs including functional exercises, mobility and gait training
- Mobilizes and stretches soft tissues
- Applies or directs the application of modalities including but not limited to heat, cold, ultrasound, iontophoresis, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as needed to promote healing
- Instructs patients in correct body mechanics for activities of daily living and prevention of injury
- Tailors home exercise programs based on diagnosis, relevant critical pathways and functional limitations
- Provides education and instruction to patients and their care givers on mechanism of injury, safety procedures, home exercise programs, self-care and injury prevention
- Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists
- Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts plan of care to achieve maximum benefit
- Administers soft tissue and joint mobilization
- Records treatment, response, and progress in electronic medical record according to company policy
- Confers with physician or other practitioners to obtain additional information, revise plan of care and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care
- Communicates with healthcare team members, attorneys, insurance companies or employers regarding patient progress, as allowed by law
- Instructs and directs work activities of physical therapy assistants, aides and students
- Correctly completes documentation, charge sheets, progress reports, etc. in a timely manner
- Complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations and company policy and procedures
- Collaborates and cooperates with business office staff to ensure proper coding and administrative protocols are followed for the purposes of verification, authorization, billing, collections and record requests
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy program; Master's degree or equivalent.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, healthcare providers, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information to patients, their caregivers, small groups and/or healthcare providers
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Valid California Physical Therapy License or License Applicant
- Valid CPR/AED certification
