About this unit Twenty-five operating rooms perform a vast variety of operative procedures/surgical specialties including Trauma and Open-Heart Surgery Programs. The department provides elective and emergency surgery Monday - Sunday, 24 hours per day. Rotating call, holiday, and weekend assignments. Scope of work The Certified Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, and who works under the direct supervision of and by the request of the operating surgeon.
