Job Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for providing individualized patient care, assessing and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. This role requires evaluating referred patients, establishing patient-centered goals, and developing treatment plans to promote independence in the discharged setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial evaluations and re-evaluations of patients' status related to speech, language, social, and cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and/or swallowing.
- Create customized plans of care that coordinate therapist and patient-directed goals to obtain achievable outcomes for prevention, intervention, and sustainable wellness.
- Implement and progress evidence-based therapy interventions consistent with established and modified goals and plans of care.
- Develop and coordinate integrated discharge plans that include recommendations specific to patients' needs with other healthcare providers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), ASHA.
- Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation, and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.
- Certification, Licensure, Registration: Certificate of Clinical Competence, America Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Licensure in Speech Pathology-Michigan.
