Corewell Health is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform routine or specialized tests and procedures in various departments such as Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Immunohematology, Histocompatibility, Flow Cytometry, Molecular Pathology, Ancillary Testing, Microbiology, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently performs chemical, hematologic, microscopic, morphologic immunologic, and/or microbiologic procedures using laboratory instruments or manual techniques within established turnaround times.
- Applies advanced knowledge, training, and clinical judgment to release quality patient test results, evaluate instrument performance, and correlate results with other laboratory data and disease states.
- Standardizes, calibrates, and performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Participates in the instruction of clinical laboratory science to students, residents, and new employees, and attends continuing education programs.
- Provides direction and guidance for questions and problems referred by medical laboratory technicians and communicates with healthcare workers and public concerning lab results and procedures.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
- Completion of a NAACLS accredited clinical internship or equivalent experience/training.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) is required.
