Role Overview
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will perform a broad range of routine and specialized tests and procedures essential for patient diagnosis and treatment. Your work may cover various areas including Chemistry, Hematology / Coagulation, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology among others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college / university with at least 16 semester hours in biology (including microbiology) and 16 semester hours in chemistry (including organic or biochemistry).
- Completion of a clinical laboratory program accredited by NAACLS or three months documented laboratory training in each specialty where high complexity testing is performed.
- Proof of clinical internship completion from a NAACLS accredited program.
- Eligibility to take certification exams as validated by the ASCP BOC.
- ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist - MLS(ASCP) or Medical Technologist - MT(ASCP) is required.
- AMT certification as a Medical Technologist - MT(AMT) (post-2010) is also acceptable.
