As an RN Charge in the Med Surg unit, I oversee patient care for patients with complex medical diagnoses and surgical needs. My role involves collaboration with healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based nursing care and advocate for patient privacy and education.
Our team specializes in caring for patients with respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, diabetic care, septic shock, GI bleed, and other acute GI illnesses. Nurses on our team are experts in nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, managing tube feeding, and wound care.
I deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. I strive to achieve optimal outcomes and uphold the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA.
Essential Functions
- Provide evidence-based nursing care and communicate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care.
- Demonstrate a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior.
- Assess patient needs and analyze assessment data to identify potential diagnoses or issues.
- Develop and implement an individualized plan of care that recommends strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program
- NURSINGRegistered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan - Upon Hire
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - Within 90 Days of hire
