About the Unit
Our PICU is a 30 bed inpatient, level 1 Trauma Unit within Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Downtown Grand Rapids.
We provide critical care for children from a few days old up to 21 years of age.
Our line of service also includes a Congenital Heart Program and Cardiovascular Surgery Program.
Scope of work
The Unit Secretary is the “go to” on each unit for clerical support. It is a fast paced role requiring strong communication skills and attention to detail. Responsibilities include taking phone calls, helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab, radiology, patient transport, nutrition services, environmental services), calling support when directed by clinical staff, assisting with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork, ordering supplies, ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked, answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs, etc.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of related experience is preferred
