CMG Services is looking for a Commercial Roof Inspector that will serve a vital dual role, combining quality assurance with sales support to enhance overall service delivery. This position is responsible for conducting detailed inspections, assessments, and documentation of commercial roofing systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and manufacturer specifications. In addition to technical evaluations, the Roof Inspector works closely with the sales team to assist in quoting, scoping, and presenting service and repair solutions to clients. Acting as a bridge between the field and front-end operations, the Commercial Roof Inspector plays a key role in maintaining technical accuracy, representing the company professionally, and fostering strong customer relationships through trustworthy and informed service.

Responsibilities
1. Pre-Inspection Planning
- Review project documentation: Analyze scopes of work, specifications, manufacturer details, and prior reports before site visits.
- Coordinate site access & safety: Plan ladder/lift access, verify fall protection measures, and ensure compliance with OSHA and site safety rules.
- Plan efficient routes for multi-site or portfolio inspections.
2. Onsite Roof Inspections
- Conduct detailed inspections of new installs, active projects, and existing roofs needing repair or replacement.
- Evaluate roof components: Check membranes, insulation, flashings, seams, terminations, fasteners, penetrations, pitch pans, and drains.
- Identify and document deficiencies: Provide detailed notes, high-resolution photos, and marked-up drawings when necessary.
- Use inspection tools: Operate drones, infrared cameras, core sampling kits, and moisture meters where appropriate.
3. QA/QC & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure installation quality: Monitor that roof systems are installed to manufacturer specs, code, and internal quality standards.
- Perform milestone inspections: Pre-cover, mid-roof, and final inspections, with punch lists and issue tracking.
- Report safety violations: Immediately flag unsafe conditions or practices observed on-site.
- Support warranty compliance: Document required items for manufacturer warranty validation.
4. Reporting & Communication
- Generate detailed inspection reports: Include conditions, recommendations, estimated life expectancy, and corrective actions needed.
- Maintain organized digital records: Upload all findings to CRM, inspection software, or company folders with proper naming conventions.
- Communicate with field teams and managers: Relay critical issues and coordinate with project managers and supers to resolve them quickly.
5. Sales Support & Scoping
- Assist junior sales reps with service quotes: Attend site visits with reps, help identify scope of work and provide technical guidance on repair methods.
- Create accurate scopes: Draft clear descriptions of recommended repairs including materials, labor, and safety needs.
- Help with pricing strategies: Offer insight on time, equipment, and technical difficulty to help reps build profitable estimates.
- Educate sales staff: Mentor junior reps on roofing systems, failure points, and how to confidently present repair solutions to clients.
6. Customer Interaction & Professionalism
- Serve as a technical expert during site visits: Represent the company with confidence, expertise, and a professional appearance.
- Explain issues to building owners or facility managers: Break down problems in layman’s terms while establishing trust and credibility.
- Follow up with photos and documentation to reinforce the value and urgency of recommended repairs.
7. Training & Development
- Mentor junior inspectors or trainees: Share inspection techniques and teach standards.
- Stay current on systems and codes: Attend manufacturer training, industry seminars, and stay up to date on new products and regulations.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, Mod-Bit, BUR, Metal).
- Understanding of repair methods, construction sequencing, and roofing best practices.
- Experience with inspection/reporting tools and CRM systems.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time across multiple jobs and prioritize high-urgency items.
- Comfortable climbing ladders, walking on roofs, and working at height.
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; manufacturer certifications are a plus.
- Sales or estimating experience is a bonus
