The Corix team has an opportunity for a Meter and Instrumentation Technician in Cleveland, OH for Cleveland Thermal.
This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing utility meters, pressure monitoring equipment and instrumentation for Cleveland Thermal's steam and chilled water customers.
Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM– Competitive salary based on skills, experience, and qualifications

What You Will Do
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety and health policies and procedures and work in a safe and productive way.
- Instrumentation Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of instrumentation calibration, repair, and maintenance. Ensure the performance and reliability of customer billing meter equipment and production instrumentation.
- Metering and Pressure Devices: Install and maintain customer onsite metering and pressure transmitter devices.
- Meter Readings and Billing: Perform monthly meter readings and support the monthly billing review process.
- Facility Support: Assist facility production technicians with projects and tasks as needed.
- Installation and Programming: Install, assemble, and program chilled water and steam billing meters at customer locations.
- Tubing and Piping: Install, fabricate, and repair instrument tubing and process piping associated with customer billing meters.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency call-outs and handle emergencies calmly and professionally
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Bring
Experience
- Two to five (2-5) years of on-the-job training in HVAC controls, Meter technologies, Instrumentation, mechanical and/or electrical skills is preferred but not required.
Education and Certification
- Vocational or high school graduate
- Have a valid Driver’s License
- 3rd Class Stationary Engineers license, a bonus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Troubleshooting: Proven ability to troubleshoot various components and utilize configuration drawings.
- Learning and Development: Eagerness to learn and improve personal skills and knowledge.
- Reading Schematics: Proficient in reading electrical schematics, ladder, wiring, mechanical piping, HVAC, control, and logic diagrams.
- Testing and Measurement: Skilled in using test and measurement instruments (voltage, amperage, resistance, frequency, pressure, temperature, etc.).
- Flow Metering Technologies: Knowledgeable in the use of flow metering technologies such as pressure, vortex, magnetic, and ultrasonic flowmeters.
- Basic Networking: Understanding of basic networking for computers and industrial equipment.
- Communication Protocols: Experience with BACnet and Modbus communication protocols.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in using email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer applications.
- Voltage Systems: Knowledge of medium and low voltage systems.
- Pipe Fitting: Basic skills in threaded pipe fitting.
- Safety Compliance: Familiarity with OSHA regulations, safety codes, and safety practices, including arc flash, LO/TO, fall protection, hot work, and pre-job hazard analysis.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, grasp, reach, twist, climb, bend, and kneel. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Driving: Must be able to drive a company vehicle within the Cleveland Thermal system.
- Stress Management: Ability to remain calm under stressful or emergency situations.
- Steam Production Knowledge: Understanding of steam production, including water chemistry and combustion theory.
Please note:
- This will include exposure to large machinery, tight spaces and hazardous conditions associated with these environments. Exposed to steam, electricity/high voltage, hazardous chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat, wet, humid, and noisy environment. Must wear hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and leather gloves and any other appropriate safety equipment when required; must be OSHA compliant.
