Job Description:
Technicians interact with customers and treat their properties for the control of common pests. Pest Control is a profession and requires state licensing (as with a nurse or building contractor) before any work can be performed by an individual or company. To qualify for this position, you must be 18 years of age or older, show proof that you are legally able to work in the United States, have a clean DMV report and pass a physical and drug screening. A state and federal background check will also be performed. This position consists of a 45- hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 5pm. This provides a minimum of 1- hour over-time per day with 2- 15 minute breaks (paid) and a ½ hour lunch (unpaid). Saturday work when available is offered to those who want it or can be mandatory to complete a weekly route schedule. Route creation is the responsibility of the office staff. Route completion and customer satisfaction is the technician’s responsibility. Field sales are encouraged to enhance the route and commissions are paid for those sales. Compensation for this position starts at $15.00 per hour for a trainee (pre-licensing) and increases as professional licensing is obtained. A trainee can obtain their first licence, an Applicator 2/3, in approximately 90 days. Applicators start at $15.50 per hour and Branch 2 Field Representatives start at $16.00 per hour. As other licenses are added to the pest technicians portfolio (Branch 1 or/and Branch 3 Termite licenses, QAC, QAL, PCA, ACE, BCE) , wages increase as experience and knowledge increases. A pest technician acquiring and maintaining 5 professional, industry licenses, can earn approximately $58,000.00 per year (this includes, regular wages, minimum overtime, company paid insurances- health and life, vacation and holiday pay and personal maintenance (laundry etc.). Becoming fully licensed can be accomplished in approximately 3 years with home and online study. How much you achieve and the wages you earn are entirely up to you. - Is responsible for the correct preparation, application, transportation, and storage of the pesticides and other chemicals used.
- Must demonstrate the ability to crawl into attics and sub-areas and use ladders and scaffolding safely.
- Demonstrates pest control knowledge and communicates it effectively to the customer.
- Is courteous and attentive to the customer’s pest control needs.
- Attends all Company Safety Meetings and Field Service Training Meetings.
- Must understand and comply with all company policies, safety guidelines, state laws and regulations.
- Must maintain industry licensing by participating in and passing continuing education courses. Failure to maintain licensing (in good standing) will terminate your employment with the company.
- Keeps a neat appearance. Company provides uniforms and safety equipment.
- Provides a safe place to park the work vehicle after hours and on weekends.
- Keeps company provided vehicle and pest equipment clean and brings repair and safety issues with vehicle and pest equipment to the attention of the service staff.
