Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County, located in Jamestown, NY has an opening for a full-time Nutrition Educator.
The Nutrition Educator will primarily be responsible for delivery of nutrition counseling services and public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout eligible county residents.

Association Subject Educator II
The Nutrition Educator will primarily be responsible for delivery of nutrition counseling services and public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout eligible county residents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Health Education, and/or Public Health. Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Health Education, and/or Public Health plus 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute.
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN).
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
- Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
- Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external partners at multiple levels within organizations and across communities.
- Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate informal education programs for diverse audiences.

- Experience in community nutrition and health education programming.
- Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place and ability to utilize program resources within the community.
- Familiarity with purchasing and preparing foods, utilizing business expense accounts and pragmatic use of resources.
- Experience working with an advisory committee.
- Experience working with agency staff at regional and state levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development - 15%

- Utilize subject matter knowledge to assist with creating innovative programs to meet identified needs and address barriers, engaging diverse partners and collaborators as needed.
- Assist with adapting curriculum materials to create lesson plans that meet local community and individual needs considering diverse audiences.
- Create or adapt program materials to address participant needs to include education on topics on healthy meal preparation and connecting the individual with grocery budget resources
- Assist in making programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes to meet the need of diverse program participants.
Program Delivery - 50%
Program Evaluation - 10%
- Deliver high quality educational programming and program activities in support of nutrition programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established plan of work.
- Assist with ensuring program delivery is within scope of grant and Association plan of work.
- Represent CCE before the public, participants, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.
- Serve as subject matter resource and respond to questions about nutrition and community health as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining linkages with Cornell and grant funder program as part of program delivery.
Program Evaluation - 10%
- Implement program evaluation as designed.
- Interact with program participants, Advisory Committee, and community agencies to gather informal program evaluation information.
- Assist with analyzing and interpreting evaluation data and make recommendations for program improvement.
- Communicate evaluation results and findings.
- Make recommendations for improvement/changes to strengthen and improve programmatic offerings.
- Assist with maintaining connection with Cornell University faculty and program units for program evaluation guidance.
Administrative Direction - 10%
- Assist with planning the delivery of established educational program goals.

- Assist with planning effective strategic external and internal communication efforts.
- Assist Supervisor in the design of a system of ongoing involvement of an advisory committee and other stakeholders who represent and communicate the demographics of the community.
- Assist Supervisor in planning for program expenses, communications, and strategic marketing.
Administrative Management - 5%
- Assist with ensuring volunteer direction and management procedures are followed according to established policies and procedures by providing guidance, leadership and resources for volunteers and volunteer leaders including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, evaluation, and management.
- Assist is solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise in the program, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
- Assist with identifying activities and resources needed to carry out program priorities and goals in consultation and collaboration with supervisor, program committees, staff, Cornell faculty, agency partners, and other community constituents.
- Assist Supervisor by performing administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of the program budget (i.e., track expenses, provide support for purchasing).
- Assist with effectively managing program budget allocations.
- Assist in identifying ways to reduce costs and maximize existing resources within the Association.
- Assist with monitoring program financial status to ensure compliance with funding requirements, program budget, grant specifications, and adherence to Association strategies/Plan of Work.
Administrative Coordination/Operation - 5%
- Assist with coordinating, compiling, and organizing existing program resources and program materials.
- Assist Supervisor in coordinating program implementation activities and planning efforts.
- Complete and submit program reports and financial documentation to meet funding agency requirements.
- Assist with preparation and submitting grants/contracts for new or existing funding.
- Maintain documentation of nutrition education sessions as required by grant and/or association requirements.
- Complete all required trainings required to meet program, grant and/or association requirements.
- Leverage community partners to receive referrals, respond to referrals within the times defined, and document information and updates related to services rendered
- Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
- Submit accurate program related expense receipts as required.
- Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained.
- Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.
- Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
- In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
- Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required.
- Pursue personal growth through expanding personal knowledge of the total organization and through updating techniques and technical skills relating to the position.
- Carry out assignments and other duties as assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to local fairs, community activities, etc.
- Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Cooperative Extension programs and other duties as assigned.
