- Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Health Education and/or Public Health and experience relevant to the role of the position. Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Health Education and/or Public Health plus 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development - 10%
- Assist with development of nutrition education and programming to meet identified needs within the county, region, and meet grant requirements.
- Assist in research, identification, and selection of existing resources (teaching materials, games, etc.) for the SNAP-ED program.
- Assist in creation and adaptation of program materials, teaching materials, and resources to address identified needs using established curriculum and materials.
- Assist in making programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes and to meet the need of diverse program participants.
Program Delivery - 50%
- Apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans and adapt established curriculum and materials to meet established program objectives.
- Utilize existing program materials and educational framework to teach the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-Ed Program.
- Deliver high quality programming to individuals and groups utilizing existing SNAP-Ed program materials and resources.
- Implement already-established SNAP-Ed educational programing and program activities in support of other nutrition programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established plan of work.
- Assist in providing existing SNAP-Ed and Nutrition education information to bring awareness to the public in the form of impact statements, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.
- Provide SNAP-Ed educational programs via mass media.
- Work to foster acceptance of the SNAP-Ed Program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
- Assist in multi-association team efforts through joint planning and implementation of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the SNAP-Ed Program.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource in the area of nutrition to staff, other nutrition educators, participants, community organizations and the general public.
- Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire association and nutrition program staff to achieve SNAP-Ed/Nutrition grant goals as well as overall association goals.
- Represent CCE before the public, participants, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities in a professional manner as part of program delivery.
Program Evaluation - 10%
- Implement program evaluation as designed.
- Interact with program participants, advisory committees, Cornell program specialists and faculty, county, and community leaders to obtain evaluation data for programs.
- Assist in the process of analyzing collected program data for reporting and program improvement purposes using standard, established policy, procedure, and methods.
- Make recommendations for improvement/changes to strengthen and improve programmatic offerings.
- Communicate evaluation results and findings to constituents as appropriate.
- Recommend changes to strengthen and improve programs.
Administrative Direction - 10%
- Assist with establishing program goals and priorities.
- Assist in identifying and making recommendations for policy and environmental changes to address identified gaps/needs in the community, county, and/or region.
- Provide input into the planning of policy and environmental initiatives.
- Assist with planning the structure of delivering educational SNAP-Ed programming via various methods.
- Assist with identifying existing coalitions or appropriate partners with whom to collaborate on policy and environmental change initiatives and programming to addressing community gaps/needs.
- Assist supervisor with planning program budget and needs.
- Provide supervisor with program related information to assist the budget development process.
- Assist with identifying activities and resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects.
- Assist with development and planning of marketing strategies and promotion to reach target audiences and meet program objectives through public relation initiatives and networking/collaborating with government, economic, educational and community organizations.
- Assist in planning social media, mass media, and marketing plans.
- Assist in the planning and promotion of public events and programs including, but not limited to, assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs such as National Nutrition Month.
- Assist and coordinate in planning program delivery of other nutrition educators.
Administrative Management - 10%
- Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e., program supplies and materials).
- Assist with implementing policy and environmental initiatives based on program evaluation outcomes and to meet the need of diverse program participants
- Assist with training new SNAP-Ed staff such as providing mini curriculum-specific tutorials, food demo protocols, and data collection methods.
- Lead implementation in the county or across the region of marketing initiatives including social media and mass media.
- Assist with monitoring program financial status to ensure compliance with funding requirements, grant specifications, and adherence to association strategies/plan of work.
- May provide occasional guidance to coworkers for a specific program or project.
- Identify opportunities and provide marketing guidance for other nutrition educators.
- Assist Program Manager in identifying group or individual SNAP-Ed staff development/training needs and assist with planning educational programs to train other SNAP-Ed educators.
Administrative Coordination/Operation - 5%
- Utilize existing program materials and educational framework recruit and teach the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-Ed Program.
- Organize and coordinate SNAP-Ed program implementation activities (i.e., food demonstrations, direct lessons to adults and youth, etc.) and planning efforts to support delivery of established program goals.
- Submit accurate program related expense receipts as required.
- Coordinate identified administrative aspects of the SNAP-Ed Program including, but not limited to: preparing correspondence, maintaining files, maintaining participant records, etc. ensuring confidentiality of all information.
- Coordinate, compile, and organize existing program resources and program materials.
- Assist in coordinating program delivery of other nutrition educators.
- Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
- Assist in utilizing effective marketing and communication strategies in the promotion of SNAP-ED programming to include, but not limited to, print media, news media, social media, multi-media efforts and the environmental change initiative in collaboration with other nutritionists.
- Assist with reaching out to media and elected officials for events. Prepare press releases, articles, and letters.
- Assist with monitoring and scheduling staff time to ensure program needs are met.
- Maintain records, complete reports, accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required for the program evaluation process.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and data collected, accessed, and/or maintained.
- Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
- Provide data and information to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others as requested.
- Transport self and/or program materials/resources necessary for performing position responsibilities.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
- In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
- Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required.
- Pursue personal growth through expanding personal knowledge of the total organization and through updating techniques and technical skills relating to the position.
