Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center is looking for a Lead Physician to join our New Haven / Q-House medical team. Summary
The Lead Physician provides reasonable and prudent medical care, practices appropriate management and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidence-based medicine. The Lead Physician provides medical services within the scope of their licensing, training and credentialing. In addition, the Lead Physician has additional responsibilities that include practice development, staff education and quality improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides reasonable and prudent medical care, practices appropriate management and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidenced based medicine. Maintains confidentiality regarding patients, staff and program matters at all times.
- Leads Medical services at one or more care sites, taking responsibility for clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient centeredness at designated site(s).
- Assists Medical Director in identifying opportunities for department wide performance improvement. Develops and implements quality improvement initiatives using available data to enable the success of the department in meeting quality metrics.
- Provides supervision, oversight, and collaboration with advanced practice providers (APPs) as appropriate.
- Assists Medical Director with recruiting, onboarding, and training of medical staff.
- Collaborates with Department Medical Director in providing coverage for peers.
- Coordinates with nursing leadership, collaborates with other specialties, and assists with service recovery.
- Plays an active role in the development and marketing of CSHHC Adult Medicine practice sites in collaboration with CSHHC Marketing and Outreach staff.
- Provides consultation as needed per agreement between CSHHC and its community partners.
- Educates patients on preventive health care and chronic disease management or refers to appropriate resources or agencies.
- Consults with other staff or specialists to make appropriate referrals for acute, chronic and preventive health care.
- Performs all other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education : Medical Degree from an accredited school along with : board certification / eligibility in a primary care discipline (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Medicine / Pediatrics), documented completion of Residency training from an accredited institution, valid unrestricted state license, valid unrestricted DEA certification, familiarity with managed care protocols, PCMH requirements, and electronic medical record. CPR Certification required.
Experience : Board Certification or Board Eligibility. (Board certification must be attained within the timeframe dictated by ones specialty in order to remain on staff at the CS-HHC if one was originally Board Eligible at the time of ones hire.) Connecticut Licensure. Must be highly respected as a clinician and have leadership potential with the ability to motivate a team and provide operational / logistical guidance. Prior experience with quality improvement, financial management, operational oversight, and / or personnel management within a clinical practice are a plus.
