Position Summary

The Data Processing Specialist is responsible for entering and processing donations, memberships, tributes, memorials, planned gifts, pledges and proposals in the Lab’s fund-raising database. This position downloads daily records of gift information from various sources, creates deposit journals, and uses MS Access programs to prepare data for entry into the Lab’s fund-raising database. The Data Processing Specialist acknowledges the Lab’s donations, and memberships. The Data Processing Specialist manually prepares batch records for gifts received directly to the Lab, balances and commits batches, and investigates imbalances, with support from the Lead Gift Processor as needed. Provides excellent communications to all members in a professional manner with confident, effective, engaging information. As needed, participates in special projects. This is a full-time 39 hour per week position located in Ithaca, NY, with a hybrid schedule available. Some overtime, holiday and weekend work is required.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and 2-4 years of relevant work experience.

Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple objectives to assist in meeting unit goals.

Demonstrable experience in data management; accountable for accuracy of the data and efficiency of its processes.

Commitment to ensuring data quality and efficiency of processes. Attention to detail is a must.

Proven accuracy working with a high quantity of credit card, check, and cash transactions.

Solid interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral); and the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with a wide range of internal and external constituencies.

Capable of working with supervisor to prioritize projects.

Ability to maintain confidentiality is a necessity. Must pass the PCI compliance training annually.

Maintaining a positive demeanor in difficult circumstances while providing exceptional customer service.

Must have demonstrated ability for working collaboratively and inclusively. Proven ability to work in a team environment where cooperation between colleagues and flexibility to different styles and approaches is required.

Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and work independently.

Knowledge of Word and Excel.

Familiarity with office machines : copier, printer, scanner, and credit card device.

Must be able to work occasional weekends, overtime and holidays when required.

Preferred Qualifications

Raiser’s Edge / NXT fundraising database, Importomatic, Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, MS Teams, Asana, and familiarity with accounting databases and customer service programs.
