The Cornell University Animal Health Diagnostic Center seeks a Laboratory Processing Assistant II (LPA II) to join the Operations and Anatomic Pathology teams. The LPA II acts under direction of the Diagnostic Operations Manager and the Unit Supervisors and efficiently moves across units to support daily functions as needed. Highly collaborative, they effectively communicate across levels to assess shareholder needs, respond to inquiries, and appropriately process test requests. Their excellent time management and positive attitude allows them to move efficiently between responsibilities, ensuring their success as they work under pressure in a team-based environment.
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Perform external courier duties; drive AHDC vehicles to various locations to deliver and pick up packages according to protocol.
- Assist with loading dock responsibilities; respond to requests, receive deliveries and perform package distribution.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of the shipping unit; maintain accurate records of receipt and stock shelves.
- Operate sterilization and dish washing equipment to support laboratory testing needs.
- Assist with basic tasks in the Anatomic Pathology unit including filing formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue blocks and slides, fixed tissues, cleaning laboratory glassware, scanning slides, etc.
- Monitor and maintain certifications and trainings to meet job expectations and requirements; continuously and proactively participate in training and development opportunities
