We are looking for full time Veterinary Scribes to join our team.
The primary goal of the Veterinary Scribe is to assist our veterinary team by reviewing, summarizing, and documenting medical records. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate and comprehensive patient documentation, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience with veterinary medical terminology, electronic medical records (EMR), and excellent attention to detail.
Veterinary Scribes are expected to maintain the standards of care, adhere to hospital policies and protocols, and uphold CUVS Core Values.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and summarize patient medical records, including history, diagnostic results, treatments, and progress notes.
- Accurately transcribe dictated or handwritten veterinary notes into electronic medical records (EMR).
- Utilize computer programs/software, including potentially artificial intelligence, to review medical records and/or generate summaries
- Ensure all patient records are complete, organized, and up to date.
- Identify missing or incomplete information and communicate with veterinary staff to obtain necessary details.
- Maintain compliance with legal and ethical standards in veterinary documentation.
- Assist in developing and improving documentation processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Support veterinarians by preparing concise medical summaries for consultations and follow-ups.
- Handle sensitive patient and client information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to streamline workflows and enhance documentation quality.
- Positively impacts operational efficiency of the service.

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience as a veterinary scribe, veterinary assistant, technician, or in a similar role preferred.
- Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Familiarity with veterinary regulations and compliance standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
