Corner Pantry - Immediate General Manager Needed
The General Manager is responsible for executing the store plan to achieve established standards, sales and profits. This is done primarily by adhering to the store budgets, staffing, personnel training and coaching, and maintaining the store such that customer satisfaction is maximized to sustain a profitable environment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Sales and Profits
- Builds sales by promoting customer satisfaction.
- Ensuring the company marketing plans and procedures are execute at store level consistently.
- Consistently maintain adequate inventory levels through effective ordering which supports driving sales and minimizing non-productive inventory.
- Manages cost by monitoring labor production and procedures execution.
- Meets controllable cost targets.
- Communicates to District Manager, any problems related to sales and profit.
2. Operating Budget
- Meets monthly budget goals.
- Communicates anticipated variances to District Manager.
- Develops appropriate plans to resolve unfavorable trends in controllables, sales and profit.
3. Staffing\\Scheduling
- Recruiting, interviewing, hiring and ensuring effective orientation and training of the highest caliber of candidates
- Responsible for effective employee scheduling and payroll management to maximize daily sales while achieving company labor target goals
4. Quality
- Trains all team members in handling sub-standard products.
- Talks with customers to determine product and service quality.
5. Service
- Trains team members to respond promptly to customer needs.
- Trains team members to provide the best customer service
- Trains team members to solicit feedback to determine customer satisfaction.
6. Cleanliness
- Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of store appearance and operation
- Trains store personnel to maintain store cleanliness during all shifts.
- Executes cleaning plan through delegation to assistant manager and other team members.
7. Training
- Trains team members to use all POS equipment to include money order and lottery terminal
- Trains team members to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Trains team members in alcohol and tobacco management and any other age restricted items.
- Recommends to District Manager for promotion those performing to high standards.
8. Controls
- Meets or exceeds 85% level on Store Inspections.
- Maintains 1.25% or less in inventory shrink.
- Manages labor cost and food cost (if applicable).
- Manages store inventory levels to ensure product/item availability.
- Set store priorities, incorporating store and company objectives.
- Identifies, evaluates and responds appropriately to profit efficiency problems.
- Analyzes monthly P&L; reviews with assistant manager.
9. Policies and Procedures
- Follows procedures as outlined in any Corner Pantry operations manuals.
- Maintains safe working conditions in the store as outlined in company policies and procedures.
- Follows company policy for cash control and security.
- Reports accidents promptly and accurately to District Manager.
- Follows procedures for resolving operational problems indicated by DHEC.
- Manages employee timecards and time sheets in accordance with policies.
- Complies with EEOC and labor law requirements.
- Reports violations of company policies to District Manager in a timely fashion
10. Administration
- Complete all required daily paperwork
- Submits all paperwork requirements on a timely basis.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the retail and or food operation, proactively helping in any area where needed.
- Completing competitive surveys as requested by upper management.
- Responsible for executing at store level the fuel pricing strategy including timely and accurate fuel surveys and price changes
11. Maintenance
- Follows procedures for reporting maintenance problems; tracks progress to completion.
12. Employee Relations
- Uses consistent practices in managing performance problems with team members
- Manages team members in a manner, which maximizes retention.
- Assisting to ensure high level of employee morale and engagement through enhanced communication, role modeling, employee recognition, consistent feedback, along with direct accountability.
- Manages grievance process; communicates process to team members
- Conducts team members performance reviews on a timely basis.
- Takes appropriate corrective action in response to performance problems.

EDUCATION: College degrees or equivalent experience in operations
EXPERIENCE: 1-2 year's experience in the C-Store industry.
OTHER: The General Manager job requires standing for long periods without a break.
