Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join our HR team and play a critical role in our employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding—while ensuring payroll accuracy and benefits administration. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will process semi-monthly payroll, administer benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, HSA, 401(k), and more), and act as a liaison between HR and Accounting/Finance to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration
- Prepare, document, distribute, and reconcile multi-state payroll on a semi-monthly basis
- Administer the payroll system, ensuring accuracy of data, pay calculations and deductions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of city, state, and federal legislation affecting payroll
- Review and reconcile required tax filings and other reporting
- Respond to and resolve any payroll-related inquiries
- Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, HSA, and 401(k)
- Guide new hires through the benefits enrollment process and handle offboarding benefit transitions
- Conduct ongoing audits to ensure compliance, accuracy, and overall benefits plan effectiveness
- HR Collaboration
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring seamless transitions for new hires and departing employees
- Monitor and document employee status changes such as promotions, transfers, and terminations
- Provide data and analysis for compensation research, market competitiveness, and pay equity
- Partner with the HR team on policy updates and ensure compliance with company and regulatory guidelines
- Reporting & Analysis
- Collaborate with Accounting/Finance to manage payroll-related reporting and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly organizational reports and participate in compensation surveys
- Assist in evaluating compensation strategies and trends
- Ensure prompt escalation and resolution of any payroll or benefits issues
- Other Duties
- Perform additional HR and administrative tasks as needed
- Support special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of payroll administration experience
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local payroll rules and regulations
- Proficient in HRIS/Payroll systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Proactive mindset with a drive to succeed and exceed expectations
- Knowledge of benefits administration and relevant labor regulations is highly desired
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) a plus
- Prior experience with Paycom payroll and HRIS software.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
