As a In Home Support Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Cornerstone Behavioral Health Services , you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients. This position is integral to our mission of delivering compassionate and personalized care to individuals with diverse needs. You will be actively involved in interactive support in client’s homes.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Assist with Skill Building exploration, routine supports, and safety supports related to the use of community resources, such as transportation, shopping, dining at restaurants, and participating in social and recreational activities.
- Supporting the individual in replacing challenging behaviors with positive, accepted behaviors for home and community environment
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor client health status.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance client well-being.
- Implement individualized service plans
- Ensure clients' rights are respected and upheld in all interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Support clients in social activities to promote engagement and independence.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Compassionate worker with a strong commitment to client welfare.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-directed.
- Understanding of individual’s rights and advocacy principles is preferred.
- Assist with all ADLs and IADLs
- Offer companionship including help with errands and appointments
- Monitoring the individual's health and physical condition and providing routine and safety supports with medication or other medical needs
- Providing supports with transportation to and from community sites and resources
- Provides hands on care
- Providing general supports as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (Required)
- Must be able to pass a background check (Required)
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (Required)
- Must have experience with medical equipment preferred. (Preferred)
- Current First Aid Certification (Preferred)
- Current CPR Certification (Preferred)
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or similar backgrounds.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety practices.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
