Dance Teacher/Choreographer
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to impact today’s youth? What better way than teaching? We have a summer internship available in Dance for our J-ROCK Performing Arts program. This is a seven-week full-time position. If you love children and have a passion for dance, we are looking for someone like YOU.
Responsibilities:
- Introduces students to a variety of dance basics in styles, such as ballet, modern, jazz, inspirational, and contemporary.
- Observe students to determine physical and artistic potential and plan programs to meet the student’s needs and aspirations.
- Explains and demonstrates techniques and methods of regulating body movements to musical or rhythmic accompaniment.
- Creates a daily routine starting with a warm-up drill
- students in the execution of choreography
- Teaches the basic history of dance along with famous dancers
- Works in collaboration with the music and art teachers,
- Works closely with the Drama Teacher, who directs the final musical production.
- Coordinates student performance attire along with the costume staff
- Choreographs and directs the dance performance for the final production.
- Accompanies students on field trips
- Drafts and submits lesson plans for the 7-weeks program
- Prepares students for the showcase, which is an evening of demonstration-type presentation where students display what they have learned during the summer in class
- Attend staff orientation and weekly meetings
Position Details:
Time Frame: June 23 – August 8, 2024
Days: Monday – Friday
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Pay Scale: $15.50 – $19.50/Hour
