Description
Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a Dental Director in our Port Jervis, NY location. The Dental Director will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the Port Jervis site and work closely with the operations manager.

The Position :
Provides supervision to dental clinical staff at the dental site, which includes 4 operatory rooms.
Provides direct and comprehensive care, which includes oral exams / treatment planning, diagnoses, x-ray interpretation, operative / restoration, removable and fixed prosthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and preventive education.
Refers to appropriate dental or medical specialty when indicated.
Obtains medical and nursing consultation, when necessary, in addressing the total needs of patient.
Formulates treatment plans and discusses case presentation with patient.
Maintains accurate and up-to date patient files as records.
Works closely with the finance department monthly to review the site's profit and loss statement, coding and billing reports to accurate documentation, codes, and claim processing to maximize revenue. Track claims, payments, denial and rejections to improve revenue cycle management.
Works closely with the dental assistant team leads to ensure proper allocation of resources for the site. Examples include : allocation of dental assistant staff and assignments, reviewing performance of dental assistants, supply orders in accordance with needs of the department with a focus on limiting excess supplies in the department, workflows to room patients efficiently, and maximize use of the operatories for the dental team.
Ensures compliance with the dental department policies and procedures in accordance with State, Federal, Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.
Maintain and compile records and reports in accordance with Cornerstone policies.
Assist in the development of dental vendor contracts.
Conduct price comparisons on major dental supplies and equipment effective purchasing.
Participate in dental clinical staff recruitment, selection, orientation, on-boarding and training as necessary.
Provide in-service training program and other activities for continued development and growth of dental staff.
Chair dental site departmental meetings to solve problems, for giving direction to staff regarding process and quality of care.
Participate in the Clinical Quality Improvement (CQI), Clinical Operations Committees (when necessary) and all Provider meetings.
Remains current in dental practices and adapts new practices to the needs of Cornerstone's patients.
As a clinical leader, provides direct and indirect mentoring, supervision and feedback to clinical staff.
As a professional leader, provides high quality care and serves as a responsible steward of resources.
Provides annual performance evaluations to subordinates in a timely manner.
Provides clinical direction and assignments to dental hygienist that work on their team
Works with the practice manager to ensure scheduling templates reflect the needs of the site practice and keeping in mind the no show rate for the site along with the average number of emergency cases that present on a daily basis.
Conducts pre-visit planning with the clinical and operations team.
Attend and participate in monthly department, All Staff and other required meetings.
Be familiar with and adhere to all clinical, administrative, and general policies and procedures as outlined in the Cornerstone Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone including, but not limited to, patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
DDS or DMD
Licensed Dentist to practice in NYS
Current Basic Life Support / CPR Certification
2 - 4 years' experience as a General Dentist
If practicing in a Dental Specialty, must have Specialty Board Certification
Managerial training or experience preferred
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and communicate effectively.
Interest in employment in Community Health Center setting and in Public Health.
Good judgment and decision-making ability.
Knowledge of administrative procedures, protocols and policies.
Flexible, responsible, tactful, resourceful and objective.
