IS THIS POSITION FOR YOU?
As a Collections Support Specialist, you will perform a variety of duties within the Records Area of the Collections Department. Provides service to the Insurance Specialist and Collections Specialists as requested. Works toward the overall credit union goal of providing superior service to members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the Collateral Management System (DLT) by processing daily reports to corrects record errors, works to perfect missing titles, and recommends corrections on paperwork. Advises Loan Officers and Collections Manager of collateral not properly perfected within a reasonable length of time.
- Works with membership reports to verifying closed memberships, pulls closed member files, and purges documents properly.
- Accurately releases collateral on paid loans using daily reports.
- Processes Deed of Trust releases on paid mortgage loans using daily reports.
- Processes temporary liens by comparing collateral for accuracy against loan documents and updating the loan record.
- Processes UCC-1's for secured loans by verifying for accuracy and imaging as required. Releases UCC-1 as required for paid loans.
- Research account and loan information as required.
- Creates folders, scans and files membership and loan documents as needed. Understands the documents and their relative importance.
- Maintains a log of member files requested by employees.
- Assists members and employees with questions regarding records and collateral.
- Works with state and county personnel to send titles with proper request and documents for retitling. Maintains a database of titles sent out.
- When possible and appropriate, uses member contact opportunities to cross-sell credit union products and services.
- Keeps the Records vault neat and clean including vacuuming and dusting.
- Follows established record retention procedures and retains imaged copies.
- Is knowledgeable of the procedures within the Records, Insurance and Collections areas.
- Is knowledgeable of all laws and regulations regarding bankruptcy, repossession, Fair Credit Reporting Act, FDCPA, and other legal matters.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs duties of the Insurance Specialist as needed. This could include billings, credit life and disability claims, forced placed insurance, incoming insurance policies, and answering calls and emails.
- Performs duties of the Collections Specialist as needed. This could include various communications with members and co-signors, developing plans to resolve delinquency and negative share balances, processing applications for extensions or refinancing purposes, and invoice posting.
- Performs other duties as requested.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
Minimum high school diploma. Other post high school business training is preferred.
Experience
Financial institution experience is desired. Personal computer experience is also needed.
Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements
Most of the essential functions of this position are performed while seated at a desk, although, occasional lifting and standing is required. Much of the work is performed using a personal computer and telephone. This requires good communication, visual ability and manual dexterity. This position requires the mental stability to handle repetitious tasks.
Accuracy
A high level of accuracy is fundamentally important to the efficient operation of the Member Resolutions areas.
Other
A valid driver's license is required as a company car may be used from time to time in the performance of the duties of this position.
