Responsibilities:
In this key role on our Rehabilitation therapy team, a Physical Therapist, PT is responsible for the assessment of referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years or older who are in need of innovative and highly skilled Physical Therapy treatments and services in inpatient rehabilitation. Physical Therapists provide direct patient care to assess medical condition, functional capabilities and limitations and restrictions and potential for rehabilitation services. Physical Therapists establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patient’s capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician. Physical Therapists educate patients and families in appropriate physical therapy methods
The Physical Therapist, PT duties include:
Responsible to provide direct patient care to assess their medical condition, functional capabilities and limitations and restrictions and potential for rehabilitation..
- Documents. prepares/reviews and completes plans of care, progress notes, order and other clinical record documentation.
- To establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patients capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician.
- Orders, assist, instructs patient and family in transfer techniques and equipment specific to patient diagnosis and needs
- Educates patients and families in appropriate physical therapy methods.
- Provides patient and family education regarding procedures based on patient's age, condition, and readiness
- Oversee technicians, aids, etc.
- Perform duties consistent with patients needs and desires
- applies concepts of infection control and precaution in coordinating, performing patient care activities for prevention purposes.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school for Physical Therapy.
At least six months of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current license for Physical Therapist in state of employment.
- Must maintain current Provider CPR certification throughout employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to project a professional image
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Knowledge and experience in the needs of patients ranging in age from 18 to geriatric
- Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations
- Strong organizational and analytical skills; excellent writing and speaking skills
- Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs
- Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
