Department Description
Schoenherr Parkway Family Practice is located on Plumbrook, east of Schoenherr in Sterling Heights.
POSITION SUMMARY
Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider and performs administrative and clerical duties in order to support patients and customers in an outpatient clinic and/or medical office setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Performs basic materials management functions, which may include ordering and stocking of supplies.
- Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment, which includes adequately supplied exam rooms.
- Performs various clerical duties including answering the phone and patient callbacks and may be required to check in and checkout as needed.
- Complies with CLIA, OSHA, and other regulatory agency standards. Participates in in-service programs as needed. Follows infection controls and safety policies.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

-COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Within scope of job, this position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful
environment.
- PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent OR graduate of an accredited healthcare professional program OR current applicable healthcare professional licensure/certification.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OTHER:
1. BLS Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of start/hire/transfer date required. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for professional Rescuers Card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from the AHA.
2. Within 90 days of hire/transfer must be eligible for and is required to obtain Medical Assistant certification or registration date OR current applicable healthcare professional licensure/certification.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of previous medical office experience preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.04 - $21.30 per hour
