We are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager for a client in the Freeport, NY area. We need a Candidate with MTA project experience.
Job Summary :
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing heavy civil construction projects with a focus on MTA-related builds, including subway stations, rail lines, tunnels, and other infrastructure. This role ensures that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with MTA standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Coordination :
- Assist the Project Manager in overseeing all aspects of project execution, from preconstruction to closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with MTA milestones and deadlines.
- Coordinate with MTA representatives, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to address project needs.
Compliance and Documentation :
Ensure all project activities comply with MTA guidelines, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Prepare and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.Track and manage permits, approvals, and inspections required by the MTA and other agencies.Budget and Cost Management :
Assist in preparing and managing project budgets, including tracking costs and reporting variances.Monitor and process subcontractor and vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality.Communication and Reporting :
Act as a liaison between field teams, office staff, and MTA personnel to ensure seamless communication.Prepare progress reports and presentations for stakeholders, including the MTA.Address and resolve on-site issues or conflicts in coordination with the Project Manager.Field Oversight :
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality compliance.Support field teams in resolving technical challenges and ensuring adherence to project plans.Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).Experience :
3-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including at least 2 years working on MTA projects.Familiarity with MTA contracts, specifications, and processes.Skills :
Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam).Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders.Certifications :
OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.MTA Track Safety Training (preferred).Work Environment :
