Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the credit union Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Assists in the month end closing, preparation of financial and regulatory reporting. Responsible for the reconciliation of all credit union cash/general ledgers and other fiscal records.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintain a professional and courteous attitude to promote a positive image of the credit union with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, outside vendors and visitors to ensure the credit union’s professional reputation is maintained.
•Cooperate with department personnel and other credit union colleagues to ensure a "team effort" and prompt member service.
•Expected to make use of every opportunity to educate and inform non-members and members alike about the benefits of credit union membership and EDIFI’s products, services.
•Supervise a staff of three to five
•Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
•Provides daily liquidity reports to senior management.
•Coordinate month end closing.
•Assist in the preparation of financial statements including balance sheets and income statements.
•Assist in the preparation of regulatory reporting.
•Knowledge of Asset and Liability Management.
•Responsible for the reconciliation of all credit union cash/general ledgers and other fiscal records.
•Ensures adherence to GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
•Must possess the ability to analyze financial data, trends, and variances to identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights to senior management.
•Assists with internal and external audit requests and deliverables.
•Understanding of the budgeting and forecasting process.
•Ability to identify and assess financial risk, implement controls to mitigate risk.
•Continuously evaluates the accounting process and systems to improve efficiency.
•Provides guidance and mentoring to Accounting personnel.
•Ability to collaborate with other departments daily and with special projects.
•Ensures that all information and transactions regarding credit union and members are kept confidential.
•Follow all established policies and procedures of EDIFI Federal Credit Union.
•Adheres to EDIFI’s Service and Telephone Standards as established.
•Continue ongoing compliance course work in assigned training programs.
•Performs all other duties as assigned by CFO.
Qualification Requirements
Educational/Training Requirement:
•High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, mandatory.
Experience:
•A minimum of three to five years’ experience in general ledger and financial accounting field.
•Experience in a credit union or financial service institution is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to produce excel documents, pivots, v-lookups, spreadsheets, databases, etc., with Windows‐based software.
•Must be proficient in Fiserv Wisdom & Portico applications.
•Knowledge of Banking/Credit Union Industry preferred.
•Working knowledge of bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
•Ability to exercise sound judgment.
