What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator position at Cornerstone Rubber Solutions?
Looking for an average manufacturing job where you show up, punch the clock, operate some equipment and leave? We hope not! (Sounds boring and repetitive). If you are, we don’t want you! We’re looking for someone with the energy to become a great Press Technician; someone we can turn into a real smooth operator. (Okay, that sounds cheesy, but don’t tell me you don’t like the song.)
We are a small, technically capable manufacturer who supplies rubber parts that go into important things. Things that make your car go, things that help keep you alive when you’re in the hospital, and things that help our troops accomplish their missions both home and abroad.
Our Press Technicians use their energy and eye for detail to produce parts on our rubber molding presses, inspect those parts and improve their jobs. We have set processes for the way we make parts for people. (Sounds like every other manufacturer, I know, but read on.) We follow the process even though we don’t like it. That’s right, we don’t like the way we’re doing it now. We want to figure out how to improve what we’re doing; make it faster, easier and better- and do it THAT way. And that’s where we differ from other manufacturers. We want to constantly improve the things we work on and we believe that our Press Technicians, as the people actually making the parts, should have some great ideas to try out.
Another difference you’ll find is that we believe many companies leave out a crucial skill that you’ll need to be successful: the ability to solve problems. You’ll run into problems in any job you ever do, that’s just life. At some companies when you hit a problem, you get told to step aside while someone more important than you comes in and solves it. (Then you can get back to pushing your button or inserting screw #72 or whatever). We believe that you are important and should be able to problem solve yourself. Sure we’ll help you, but we want YOU to learn, grow, and be capable of overcoming the things that stand in your way.
Press Tech’s produce a huge variety of molded rubber parts and generally run two or three machines at a time while meeting and exceeding production and quality standards. We make-to-order for our customers, so you might only run a job for a day, or you might run it for two weeks. Either way, we’re not an assembly line, and you’ll see a variety of different parts and use a variety of different equipment. The attention to detail mentioned above is needed in order to make great parts that will make our customers happy. We also keep detailed records of everything so we need well-done, accurate documentation.
If you’ve ever worked in a manufacturing environment you know how important teamwork and commitment are to personal success. Our customers and your team-mates are counting on you to be here, every day. You’ll have a great team to work with and we expect that you’ll build great relationships. We need someone teachable who can learn and demonstrate all the basics of the position in the first couple weeks on the job. Most important though is a commitment to yourself to be as good as you possibly can be. We’ll help you achieve this goal.
A pay increase is possible after a successful completion of your 90 day probationary/training period.
