What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Assistant position at Cornerstone School?
Openings in Preschool, Upper Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Transition Age Classrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide on-going training, encouragement and support in the classrooms to make them a part of the transition team.
Develop meaningful family contact through notes, phone calls, school visits and home visits.
Demonstrate and model at all times expected professional behavior in the classroom and in the community
Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of an educational team.
Demonstrate universal precaution, proper lifting, changing and feeding techniques on an on-going basis.
Demonstrate the ability to work independently in the community
- Ensures all students are treated with dignity and respect, thereby, facilitating the agency philosophy and mission.
- Ability to perform all transition tasks associated with the transition process.
- Work in conjunction with the special education teachers and the transition team to develop and implement transition programs.
- Participate as a member of the IEP team for annual and six month review meetings and other pertinent meetings involving the students.
- Assist students in community based sites to be used as work experiences and discovery.
- Responsible to follow weekly individual student schedules based upon IEP goals and objectives
- Complete all required paperwork including within the specified timelines set forth by the Department of Education.
- Attend all trainings/meetings that are appropriate to the transition process.
- All other duties as assigned
