Job Title: Bilingual Customer Service Clerk for WIC Department
Location: Dallas, TX
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-6pm (hours vary by location; 8 hour shift)
Pay: $17.82/hour
Responsibilities:
- The Women, Infants, and Children Customer Service Representative provides clerical, administrative, and professional customer service work in the support and facilitation of the WIC program for the City.
- Interviews, evaluates, and reviews WIC Program applicants to determine income and residency eligibility; records, documents, and organizes information on appropriate forms and completes forms accurately; verifies ID, checks immunizations, performs extensive interviews, and performs other actions to decipher eligibility for program resources.
- Issues the WIC food instrument (EBT), completes data entry (Texas WIN), tracks and completes inventories, and prepares and maintains reports.
- Collects and gathers medical history data, compiles blood samples from finger sticks, and obtains heights and weights on adults, children and infants; enters data accurately on XP software.; identifies recall items and collects for medically necessary formulas.
- Interacts with, greets, and checks in WIC participants in a courteous manner and provides correct information regarding WIC services and correctly makes appointments.
- Provides professional administrative and clerical support; answers the telephone in a polite and timely manner, provides good customer service, prepares records, and maintains forms and files for WIC participants; completes assigned filing and purging as directed by supervisor.
- Screens and checks immunization records to determine immunization status and provides information and referrals as needed to WIC participants; refers WIC participants to appropriate health and social service agencies.
- Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned
Job Requirements:
- 2 years in health care, education, community or social services
- Identifies as having been part of WICs target population and can be trained to be a paraprofessional
- State of Texas Driver's License.
- High School Diploma, GED
- Must be bilingual, Spanish
- Knowledge of the Power of Influence (P.O.1.) principles when providing WIC services.
- Knowledge of WIC program and working with women, infants, and children.
- Knowledge of customer service and program information.
- Ability to work with computers and provide information.
- Ability to communicate program standards.
- Ability to evaluate applicants and direct to appropriate resources.
- Ability to complete WIC nutrition modules during probationary period.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
