Job Description
Major roles and responsibilities of the Construction Field Inspector (Civil, Structural, and Bus & Rail
Facilities) include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform construction inspection to ensure compliance with plans and specifications regarding building construction, parking garages, surface parking, aerial structures, tunnels and all the disciplines encompassing the interior and exterior of transit facilities;
- Perform daily field inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing items related to the construction of facilities;
- Ensure that projects are completed in accordance with approved means, methods, and procedures;
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings, discussions, and site inspections;
- Prepare inspection reports;
- Observe work for compliance with applicable safety regulations and take appropriate action when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned by the WMATA Task Manager.
Background and Experience Required
Background and experience for the Construction Field Inspector (Civil, Structural, and Bus & Rail Facilities)
include, but are not limited to the following:
- High school diploma;
- Solid understanding of construction inspection services, including documentation preparation and control;
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control techniques;
- Ability to utilize computer systems for documentation and data management;
- Ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications;
- Ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments;
- Ability to communicate inspection items effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, sub consultants, designers, architects, and fellow team members);
- Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights , work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, and periodic weekend and night work;
- Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain;
- Successful completion of WMATA Right-Of-Way Training;
- OSHA 30-hour (Construction) certification, in-person training;
- Ability to carry 50 pounds (testing equipment); and
- Valid Driver's license
This is an on site position
Salary : $72,500 - $94,700
