Qualifications
An Assistant Resident Director (ARD) is responsible for developing a group of student leaders to effectively extend the ministry of student development into his / her assigned residence hall through spiritual encouragement, social connection, and co-curricular programming under the direction and supervision of the Director of Residence Life. This position is structured as a graduate assistant.
CLASSIFICATION : Part-Time, Hourly (20–25 hours / week, 41 weeks / year)
REPORTS TO : Director of Residence Life
LOCATION : Grand Rapids, MI - On Campus, Live-on role
As an intentional training program combining theological, graduate education, and residential ministry opportunities, the program provides full tuition remission (not including books or fees) for a graduate degree at Cornerstone University or the Cornerstone Theological Seminary (CTS) in addition to housing and hourly compensation. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Participate in the hiring of Residence Life Staff each year.
- Directly advise, disciple, train, and equip the Resident Assistants in assigned residence hall under the direction and supervision of the resident director.
- Proactively build relationships with students, giving particular emphasis to students in assigned residence hall.
- Engage and assist in redemptive ministry opportunities by addressing conduct issues in the residence hall under the direction and supervision of the resident director.
- Serve as the initial point person for residential students in crisis, seeking additional help and assistance as necessary.
- Assist the Director, as available and needed, in case management for ongoing “students of concern.”
- Participate in the Community Life “Duty” rotation as an on-call member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Plan and carry out residence hall programming congruent with CU’s mission and educational objectives.
- Assist in the planning and organization of Residence Life staff training events.
- Participate in regular Residence Life training events and meetings.
- Coordinate the move-in and check-out procedures for the assigned residence hall.
- Participate in new student arrival activities, contributing to a welcoming, inviting campus atmosphere.
- Serve as the building manager for assigned residence hall, collaborating with Facilities & Physical Plant for maintenance requests and facilities management.
- Assist the Director in overseeing the residence hall budget.
- Maintain accurate and timely records and reports of interactions with students and residence hall programming.
- Effectively collaborate with, and provide support for the discipleship model for traditional undergraduates at CU.
- All employees are expected to serve as Christian leaders and mentors by effectively living a gospel-centered lifestyle, ministering and discipling through a biblical worldview.
