Role Summary:
The Mortgage Loan Officer is a residential originator that is primarily responsible for building Corning Credit Union's brand and reputation within the mortgage community, growing our portfolio and securing our position as a Mortgage Market Leader. This is accomplished through a self-developed referral network using consistent business development, networking, and relationship building techniques and efforts.
Essential Job Duties

Consistently focuses on growing CCU's mortgage portfolio and local market share through securing and fostering strong realtor, builder, and developer relationships.
- Regularly attends realtor community functions.
- Participates as a member of Realtor or builder trade associations.
- Develops strong, individual relationships with key realtors, agencies, or other centers of influence within the market through regular communication and touch points.
- Works to develop community relationships and participates in other business development and community activities to enhance our exposure and overall brand within the market. This includes involvement in external events and responsibilities outside of regular business hours.
- Develops a portfolio that also includes pre-qualified members and proactively maintains contact with those members to increase our pre-approved to closed ratio
- Adheres to all service level requirements and is highly responsive to members, realtors, and referral partners.
- Interviews loan applicants and assists members with the loan application process.
- Educates members about products and services that meet their needs and contribute to a lasting, profitable relationship.
- Maintains strong knowledge regarding all applicable regulations and ensures adherence to Fair Lending requirements.
- Maintains advanced knowledge of Freddie Mac and how it relates to the Mortgage industry and possesses detailed knowledge in a specialized area of mortgages such as construction, investment, or first-time home buyer.
- Builds on a strong portfolio that has been developed over time and assists the Mortgage Originations team in maintaining contact to increase our pre-approved to closed ratio.

Education Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field is preferred. Commensurate work experience will also be considered.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience Requirements
- Prior business development and outside sales preferred and mortgage lending experience required.
Communication Skills Requirements
- The ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence.
- The ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards.
- The ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- The ability to effectively communicate loan decisions and navigate sensitive situations.
Physical Requirements
