Scope of Position

In this role, you will support and lead production operations across weekends, to achieve department goals of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Innovation in the manufacture of products for the Life Sciences Kennebunk plant. You will be responsible of managing the activities of Production and support Teams to meet the objectives of the business, facilitating and directing daily production activities to ensure control and compliance to established process control and operating procedures.

We look for you to develop and implement plans to maximize the efficiency and output of operations, optimizing product availability for the customers we serve. The role handles various resources such as people, equipment, materials, information, and time.

Day To Day Responsibilities

  • Schedule resources and prioritizes activities to assure efficient production schedule compliance to include product changeovers, upgrades, experiments, new product runs, training and maintenance activities.
  • Provides daily direction to production and functional employees, team leaders, technicians and others on established procedures and policies
  • Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to production teams, plant operations staff and functional leaders.
  • Ensure that production targets and delivery requirements are met on a daily basis
  • Engage with plant teams and functional groups responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements & cost reduction projects
  • Perform performance reviews and develop and reinforce career and talent development plans for salaried/indirect labor and hourly/direct labor employees
  • Ensure that the production process is operating in compliance to established process control set-points and operating procedures.
  • Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Ensure compliance to Corning Global Safety Standards
  • Perform documentation updates as applicable and ensures deployment
  • Develop, implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators, team leaders and others
  • Facilitate and monitor all process/equipment changes and experimental plans involving the production process, including process improvement, new product trial runs, equipment/tooling redesign, raw material, batch and/or component changes

Travel Requirements

  • Per request. Less than 5%

Hours Of Work/work Schedule

  • Weekend shift core hours: Friday through Monday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm; additional days/hours may be needed to support production.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
  • Frontline supervisory or team leader experience in a manufacturing environment, has demonstrated capability to hold people and teams accountable to process control and discipline
  • Experience with leading teams and projects to meet significant continuous improvement goals, cost reduction or performance improvement initiatives
  • Experience and understanding of process management systems, process control and discipline techniques.
  • Trained and experienced in supervisory effectiveness, conflict resolution and effective listening skills.
  • Training and understanding of cost accounting and managing for profitability
  • Trained and experienced in fundamentals of safety and health.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in a process engineering role, capable to perform in-depth analysis to solve complex problems
  • Exposure to launching and ramping new products into manufacturing
  • Green Belt certified in Performance Excellence, Lean and DMAIC methods
  • ERP (SAP or PeopleSoft) experience preferred.
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean or Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to lead multi-functional teams through ambiguity and effectively lead change.

The range for this position is $95,212.00 - $130,917.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
