Scope of Position: The Production Planner is responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. The planner is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all planning and monitoring of master data for Oneonta manufactured and purchased products, for both finished goods and raw materials. Reconciling and reporting of all applicable performance metrics for planning and manufacturing of products. Providing data and leading effective interaction between planning, operations, and the supply chain to ensure material availability and production efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilitie
- Utilize knowledge of supply chain concepts and principles in all decision process
- Daily coordination with operations to set production priorities and participate on plant improvement teams for related functions as necessary (Quality / Procurement / Engineering / Operation
- Utilize planning system (MPS) to create monthly / weekly manufacturing requirements and develop operational plan
- Work closely with supply chain to create the monthly locked-in production schedule
- Coordinate schedules with customer service, suppliers, receiving, manufacturing, and shipping to ensure customer’s requirements are met
- Responsible for maintenance and date sequencing of planned orders
- Maintenance of the ERP system’s planning/purchasing master data including but not limited to BOM’s, routings, work centers and purchasing info record
- Monitor production planning activities through daily updates of the production schedule
- Develop recovery plan for low inventory products and monitor execution to plans
- Maintain adequate raw material inventories to support the production plan
- Participate as core team member on all new material, material change and validation project teams and maintain current engineering specification change revisions
- Perform monthly surveillance of all planning objectives to assure alignment to divisional goals and strategies
- Support divisional procurement, transportation, supplier management, and logistics operations to ensure customer’s requirements are met
- Work with Operations to develop attainable schedules to minimize late work orders and backorder and improve workflow to meet metrics targets
- Conduct analysis and provide regular status updates to leadership
- Plans and schedules production requirements while balancing manufacturing capacity against forecasted demand
- Revises the plant’s capacity utilization plan as needed based on forecasted demand. Works with Engineering and Production leadership to optimize assumptions and factor in capital projects for process or machine improvements that will affect capacity. Supports Engineering & Production to schedule and deploy new or changes process or products into the production environment
- Drives continuous improvement in planning systems
Required Skills/Experience
- Understanding of production line flow and equipment capacities
- Understanding of finished goods inventory management
- Detail oriented with strong problem resolution skills and ability to coordinate multi-discipline activities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross functional team

- Microsoft Office (Excel-pivot tables, v-lookup, Word, Exchange, PowerPoint, Access) and database application skills
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Business, Supply Chain or a related
- 3-5 years of experience in plant manufacturing, production coordination, or supply chain
Hours of work: Standard business hours; 40 hours, Monday to Friday; could be over 40 depending on workload
