What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Corolla Light Resort?
The purpose of a lifeguard's job is to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals swimming or participating in water-related activities. They are responsible for monitoring and supervising designated areas, responding quickly to emergencies, providing first aid and rescue assistance when necessary, enforcing safety rules, and helping swimmers who may be in distress. Lifeguards will also be responsible for performing basic cleaning tasks, checking for proper chemical levels and providing customer service to patrons on the pool deck.
Responsibilities:
· Actively monitoring pool activity to ensure guests follow established safety rules and regulations set by Corolla Light Resort and NC state rules and regulations covered in NC DHHS 15A NCAC 18A .2500.
· Regularly testing pool chemical levels.
· Vacuuming and removing debris from the pool, cleaning pool deck, furniture and surrounding areas.
· Checking the restrooms for cleanliness.
· Greeting guests, providing information about pool rules and facilities, addressing inquiries and resolving minor issues.
· Respond promptly and efficiently to water-related emergencies, including performing water rescues, administering CPR and providing first aid when necessary.
· Maintain a calm and composed demeanor during emergency situations.
· Maintain accurate records of incidents, rescues, and any first aid treatments provided. Complete any other necessary paperwork that is required.
· Putting pool furniture back to the correct places, securing umbrellas, and securing pool deck at the end of day.

· Be a competent swimmer
· Be able to pass a Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification Class
· Be able to pass a First Aid and CPR class
Work Environment
· Exposed to varying weather conditions like sun, heat, humidity and occasional rain while primarily stationed around the pool deck.
· May have to work weekends. and holidays.
Physical Demands
Ability to react to emergency situations by quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights.
Required to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing, or walking for various lengths of time.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Rotating weekends
